Code for Sustainable Homes
The Code for Sustainable Homes is the national standard for the sustainable design and construction of new homes. It aims to reduce carbon emissions and create homes that are more sustainable.
The Code measures the sustainability of a new home against nine categories of sustainable design, rating the 'whole home' as a complete package. It uses a one to six star rating system to communicate the overall sustainability performance of a new home, with six having the highest sustainability rating.
BSP Consulting has wide experience of working on projects built to high levels of the Code.
Our engineers were part of the team involved in the Tarmac Homes Project – an exciting project to illustrate how the highest levels of the Code for Sustainable Homes can be practically achieved at a low cost whilst also providing a template for future zero carbon housing across the UK that can easily be replicated.
