CfSH SUR 1 - Management of Surface Water Run-off from Developments
The Code for Sustainable Homes has become a major factor for our social housing clients over the 4 years since its introduction and will soon become relevant to all housing as the Building Regulations change to incorporate these requirements.
The aim of the Code for Sustainable Homes is to encourage development to be undertaken in an environmentally sensitive manner. One of the major aspects of the Code for Sustainable Homes is the SUR 1 requirements for drainage;
SUR 1 - Management of Surface Water Run-off from Developments
To design surface water drainage for housing developments which avoid, reduce and delay the discharge of rainfall run-off to watercourses and public sewers using SuDS techniques…
Our civil engineers at BSP Consulting have been working with SUDS drainage techniques for many years and have a wealth of experience in the design of effective, economically viable systems for all types of development.
The Code has created a large increase in the use of rainwater harvesting systems. At BSP Consulting we are skilled in the design of drainage systems to accommodate rainwater harvesting and encourage clients to use these systems whenever practical. However, due to the high costs of installing the systems we are also very keen to ensure that clients have fully considered the cost:benefit balance.
Civil engineers at BSP Consulting have developed a process to help us to assess a site’s drainage requirements and to produce a cost effective, practicable and functional system.
