Rolls-Royce Test Bed
July 20, 2018

With more than 200 contracts completed for Spie UK over the past 10 years who work for Rolls-Royce on their UK sites, BSP Consulting is delighted to be involved in their most recent projects for the pre-eminent engineering company.

Rolls-Royce is currently developing a new testbed in Derby, announced in June 2017 as part of a wider £150m investment in UK aerospace facilities, and which is expected to be commissioned in 2020. It will support Rolls-Royce’s ongoing industrial transformation and will provide important additional capacity as the civil aerospace business continues to ramp-up engine production and deliver on a record order book.

The largest indoor facility of its type in the world, it will be capable of testing a range of today’s engines, including the Trent XWB and the Trent 1000. The facility will also serve as a base for testing UltraFan®, Rolls-Royce’s engine for the next generation of aircraft.

BSP director Clive Roddick, who leads the company’s Derby office, said: “Rolls-Royce is a name that is known throughout the world. It is a highly significant player in the local, regional and national economy, and BSP is very proud to have had a long-standing relationship with Spie UK over many years – helping the business to develop on the Derby sites.”

BSP is providing external works services for the new testbed.
