Detention Tank Blackburn WWTW

Active Tunnelling was employed as a specialist contractor to construct a 27m diameter shaft, 24m deep to resolve the unsatisfactory intermittent discharge located at the Blackburn Waste Water Treatment Works.

The concrete base to the shaft was cast incorporating 106 ground anchors and 915m³ of concrete. A central flushing column was then constructed 22m tall utilising a ‘self-climbing’ formwork system.
