Larkin Grove Housing Sheffield

Deerlands Special School in Sheffield closed in August 2005 and was rebuilt as part of the Holgate Meadows Community School on the adjacent cleared housing site.  Its closure and demolition provided an empty site which is being developed within the broad principles of the Southey Owlerton masterplans, Neighbourhood Strategies and Regeneration Framework. A key aspect of this is to develop a mix of tenures and housing choice, primarily by reducing the amount of housing in our  ownership and introducing new sustainable housing of good quality design.

The housing development provided elegantly designed and well planned new homes which are contemporary in character, adding an original and exciting element to the area. Eight of the new homes are available for social rent and the rest are available through a rent-to-purchase scheme whereby customers applied through an application process. The scheme was developed to level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH).

  • Structural engineer on all related aspects of the scheme
  • External works design which created a pedestrian-friendly ‘European-style Home Zone’
