The £1m Get Busy Living Centre has been named the 2018 winner of the Community Benefit category at the RICS Grand Final awards.

BSP Consulting was part of the team that built the state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility at Burrough-on-the-Hill in Leicestershire, which is supporting those who have suffered life-changing injuries through sport.

The brainchild of former England Under-21 rugby player Matt Hampson, who was paralysed in a rugby accident, the project was delivered by a number of local partners, many of whom offered their time, services, materials and expertise for free, including construction company Willmott Dixon, professional services firm MDA Consulting, architects Corporate Architecture, engineering consultants Couch Perry Wilkes, Salus and BSP Consulting.

BSP business development director Jef Todd said: “BSP is very proud to have been involved in the construction and development of the Matt Hampson Foundation’s Get Busy Living Centre, which is providing such valuable support to those who have been injured in sporting accidents.

“It’s a brilliant scheme and thoroughly deserves to have won the Community Benefit category at the RICS Grand Final awards. Congratulations to everyone in the team – it truly was a great team effort to realise Matt Hampson’s dream and create such an amazing rehabilitation facility.”

The centre was officially opened by Matt Hampson and Patron Mike Tindall on 2nd October 2018.
